WE ARE LOOKING FOR BOARD MEMBERS!

Second Story Women’s Centre is currently welcoming applications for new members to join our volunteer Board of Directors. We encourage individuals with diverse lived experiences and perspectives to apply, including Black, Indigenous, and racialized community members, newcomers to Canada, women and gender-diverse people living with disabilities, and members of 2SLGBTQIA+ communities. We welcome those with no previous board experience and will provide support in the role

Our board is crucial in decision making, planning and policy development. Our goal is to have a board that represents the diverse communities we serve. This year we are looking particularly for candidates with experience in EDI initiatives, or a passion for social action, plus the dedication to Second Story to devote time and energy to both board and committee work. Being on the board means a time commitment, it’s true. The board meets monthly (two hours air time, plus background reading) and there are occasional other meetings for strategic planning or community-building. For a member-at large, board duties might average 6 to 8 hours monthly; more if you’re on a committee.

If you are interested in joining the board, or if you know somebody with something to offer, please contact [email protected]  by May 22nd 2026.
