Sacred Time- Starting April 26th

Sacred time can be any time a woman makes a space to step outside her busy life to seek comfort and strength. Turning inward for guidance and support is an important and vital way for a woman to look after herself. If you are interested in creating sacred time in your life, join our small group at Second Story as we explore the use of rituals to help nurture ourselves spiritually. You will be in a safe, supportive environment. During our six weeks together, we will use a different ritual each week to look after ourselves in body, mind, and spirit.
Peggie Graham is a writer with a lifelong interest in women’s spirituality. She enjoys creating rituals for celebrations and special occasions in women’s lives. While pursing a degree in Women’s Studies she co-created an annotated bibliography that was used in some introductory women’s spirituality courses as well as a directory of spiritual alternatives for women. She is currently completing a manuscript of women’s rituals.

Location: Bluezone, 18 King St, Lunenburg, NS
Moving to Heal allows us to feel better by building a trusting relationship with the awareness of sensation. As a trauma-informed practice, each session will introduce a focus related to healing, and our moves will explore that focus. Nia blends the energies of dance, martial arts and healing arts. It is gentle and adaptable, suitable for all levels of fitness regardless of health status or mobility limitations, and can be enjoyed seated or standing. Moving together in community offers opportunities for shared rhythm and playful exploration. In Nia, we know that through movement, we find health. Kathleen Naylor is a Nia Brown Belt and licensed teacher. She has been teaching Nia for 11 years, and loves to lead groups of people in exploring the joy of movement. A Registered Counselling Therapist, Kathleen is also an intermediate level Somatic Experiencing student. She is a longtime friend of Second Story, and is honoured to offer this movement practice to contribute to the wellness of all participants. You can learn more at Nia on the South Shore. Wednesdays 11:00 am, meet at the Centre to walk along the trail. Shorter and longer routes available and all paces accommodated. A walking group for women who enjoy getting out in the fresh air.
Did you know? Time spent in green space (or blue space, by the coast) can reduce feelings of anxiety and depression. These elevations in your mood last longer than your time outside and can be carried with you throughout the day. |
Please register for all workshops by calling or emailing SSWC. Programs are free and open to all women and gender-oppressed people. Any programming that is open to anyone in addition to the women, girls and gender-oppressed people that the Centre serves will be advertised as such or say, "Everyone welcome."
