The 6 Days of Fishmas Facebook Auction

Starting tomorrow (Sunday, December 12), Second Story Women's Centre will be auctioning off a $100 gift card to Dory Mates Seafood Shop on the Second Story Women's Centre Facebook every day until December 17!

Here are the rules:
  • You must be 19 years old in order to participate.
  • When a gift card is posted, please comment under the picture indicating how much you wish to bid.
  • Bidding starts at $50, bids must be in increments of $10.
  • Once bidding for the prize has closed for the day at 4 pm AST, if you are the successful bidder, it will be noted on the posting and you will be advised by Messenger within 2 hours.
  • You will have 48 hours to forward your donation via email money transfer to [email protected]. If your donation is not received in that time, we reserve the right to resell the certificate with no notice.
  • Once payment has been received, we will make arrangements for you to pick up the gift card.
It all starts tomorrow morning, on the Second Story Women's Centre Facebook page. Your chance to score a delicious feed of seafood for the holidays AND support women, girls and gender-oppressed people in Lunenburg and Queens Counties. Good luck!

SSWC decorated a Christmas tree with help from volunteers from our Social Action Committee & the crafty creative folks who made ornaments at our Creative Corner workshop in November!   • On the final day of the #16DaysofActivism against gender-based violence, we would like to share these two new resources from the Western University Centre for Research and Education on violence Against Women and Children that are based on advice directly from survivors of Intimate Partner Violence.

  • One is for people who are being subjected to IPV, and the other is for their friends and families. They are linked below.
  • "There's a Way Out" Insights for Survivors of Intimate Partner Violence
  • "Stay with them" Survivors of Intimate Partner Violence Share Insights on how Friends and Family Can Help

Are you being subjected to gendered violence? Number to know:
 Harbour House in Bridgewater is our local transition house that offers shelter to women and children leaving domestic violence situations. They also offer free counselling to any survivors of gendered violence (including sexual violence, stalking, emotional abuse and whether you have used their shelter services or not). They have a 24 hour crisis line: 902.543.3999 /
