Social Action Committee Looking for New Members!

SSWC's Social Action Committee is looking for interested participants who want to share their time and energy and raise their voices for Social Action! Meetings are held on a monthly basis to address a variety of topics and issues. The SAC focuses on:

• Events: We try to plan and participate in several events each year, such as International Women’s Day, December 6 Day of Remembrance and the Holiday Parade in Lunenburg.
• Outside Committees: Members of the SAC engage with a number of other committees, both locally and provincially, such as TESS (Trafficking and Exploitation Services System), Energize Bridgewater, and SSHAC (South Shore Housing Action Coalition).
• Emerging Issues: There is an ever-changing list of issues that we monitor, become involved in and advocate for. For example, we support ongoing education regarding anti-racism, we advocated for including a feminist lens to the provincial inquiry into the Portapique shooting, we advocate for women in leadership roles and the need for affordable housing on the South Shore.
