Due to Covid lockdown restrictions we are putting our Women's Grief Support group that was due to start this week on hold. We are still hoping to hold the group when it is safe to do so. If you are a woman or gender-oppressed person who is grieving the death of a partner, please reach out to Christine at [email protected] or 902-397-1625 for more information, and to let her know you're interested in participating in the group when we can hold it. We are currently recruiting new members for our volunteer Board of Directors. The minimum time commitment is only five hours a month – which includes participating, in person or via Zoom, in an evening meeting held the last Thursday of each month and committee work. Training and support is also provided to all new recruits.
The work our board members do is both critical to the community and personally rewarding. The Centre is hoping to fill open seats with members who can bring a range of cultural and life experiences to the table, to ensure that the voices of the women and other gender-oppressed persons we serve are better represented. We especially welcome applications from Black, Indigenous and People of Colour, newcomers to Canada, women and gender diverse people with disabilities, and members of the 2SLGBTQIA+ communities. Interested in joining our board or know someone who might be?
WOW - Because of our community's generosity, we were able to raise enough money to pay for more than 100 counselling sessions for women and gender-oppressed people on the South Shore through our Mother's Day fundraiser. We are SO thankful for your support! We want to say an extra special thank you to our friends at the Salt Shaker Deli in Lunenburg who donated 10% of their Mother's Day weekend sales, despite working with reduced capacity due to Covid lockdown restrictions. THANK YOU!
